How lip blush works
Lip blush is a permanent makeup technique using machine-applied cosmetic ink — essentially a cosmetic tattoo applied to the lips. A PMU machine with a fine needle deposits pigment into the upper layers of the lip tissue, adding colour, enhancing the natural lip border, and evening out tone.
The result is a soft, watercolour-like tint that makes lips look more defined, more symmetrical, and naturally fuller — without injections. Colour intensity can be customised from barely-there to noticeably tinted. The treatment takes 3–3.5 hours including a consultation and numbing.
Lips look slightly darker and more defined for the first week as they heal. Over 4–6 weeks the colour softens to the final healed shade, which is typically 30–40% lighter than immediately post-treatment. A touch-up at 6–8 weeks is required for the best healed result and is booked separately at £50. Results last 1–3 years.

Combining both: which order and how long to wait
If you plan to have both treatments, the correct order matters:
- Get filler first. Let it fully settle — this takes at least 4 weeks, sometimes longer. During this time the HA integrates into the tissue and migration settles.
- Then book lip blush. Once the filler is stable, tattooing over it is completely routine. The pigment behaves the same way on filled lips as on natural lips.
Applying lip blush over freshly placed filler risks uneven pigment distribution, as the filler is still moving slightly in the first few weeks. Waiting for full settlement gives the best, most precise result.
In reverse — if you already have lip blush and want to add filler later — that is also possible, but let your artist know at the consultation so timing can be discussed.
